MCT Powered Strawberry Shake

Want to know why we're so excited about MCT oil lately?

It can boost energy, has been shown to aid in weight loss, and helps regulate hormones and keep your body working at its most optimal level. That means you'll be more resistant to bugs, sleep better and some study's have even shown it can decrease risk of Alzheimer's and heart disease (although these claims are still under debate.)

But what really is MCT?
MCT” is an abbreviation for the oil’s chemical structure, medium-chain triglycerides, also called medium-chain fatty acids. The fats found in MCT are made of chains of molecules bound together and, depending upon the number of carbon atoms in a chain, are classified as short, medium, or long chain.

Medium chain triglycerides are more easily digested than other fats. MCTs are very long-lasting molecules and  burn slowly over time. They are stored in the liver, where they are quickly metabolized and converted into a readily available source of energy. In contrast, other fats go through many more conversion steps. This is helpful because it allows us to burn the fuel in a longer period of time, thus alternately helping satiate our body and keep us full for longer periods of time.

So what better way to start your day off than by a energizing and filling MCT powered strawberry shake?

MCT Powered Strawberry Shake:

 Ingredients
● 1 ½ cup coconut water, not from concentrate
● ¾ cup frozen strawberries
● ½ frozen banana
● 1 scoop protein (any kind)
● 1-2 tbsp MCT
● 1 tbsp. chia seed
Suggested Use:
Blend all ingredients and enjoy as a perfect, hydrating and energy-refueling post-workout shake.
